Blake Nelson '20 Recruiting Profile

I'm Blake Nelson, and I'm currently a Junior at Wood River High School. My goal is to play college baseball, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes. Coming from a small town with little opportunities and limited facilities (especially in the winter months) and not being the biggest guy out there, I have learned that things don't always go your way. You have to take what you are given and make the best of it. I use people's criticism about my size as fuel to the fire. That's one thing that I think makes me different, sort of a chip on my shoulder. I love the game of baseball and strive to do my best and make myself better every single day.  You hear people say "the grind don't stop" well that's a true statement for me; my grind doesn't stop. Baseball is the greatest game in the world, and I love every little thing about it. From the actual game to practice to hanging out with the team; I love it all. I also like the saying "you win as a team, and you lose as a team," and therefore I'm always looking for things that I can do to help my teammates, and I'm always taking advice from them. My work ethic doesn't just stop on the baseball field. I am definitely focused in school and currently have a 3.8 GPA. I have a strong drive to succeed in whatever I do.
