Personal Statement
My name is Gunnar Briggs, and I am a Senior at Glenbard North High School in Carol Stream, Illinois, Class of 2022. I was named to the DuKane All Conference Team as a Senior with a .455 batting average and All Conference Team Honorable Mention as a Junior, .338 batting average. My pop time is 1.93 and 60 yd time is 6.82 sec. When I am not catching, I play corner outfield and had a .465 batting average for the shortened summer season. I also had a .585 batting average for the shortened fall season in 2020. My coaches have instilled in me sportsmanship, and a hard working attitude on and off the field. I am currently in my forth year of doing volunteer work through Young Men's Service League and have been assigned as an Election Judge in the 2020 Election. I feel these accomplishments will benefit me as a leader on my baseball team and teams I may play for in the future.
My parents have instilled the importance of academics, and I agree that receiving a good education is the cornerstone of achieving my career goals. My plan is to insure I choose a College or University that will fit me personally and fulfill my academic aspirations. I currently have a 4.5/5.0 GPA, and will pursue a degrees in Business and Criminal Justice. During COVID pandemic I dedicated myself to successfully navigate my way through the remote and hybrid models of learning.
My drive to work hard in the offseason shows my love for the game of baseball. I work on my batting and speed during the offseason as well as attend catcher’s clinics when available in my area. I also participate at Prep Baseball Report (PBR) as well as other College Showcases. These showcases have helped me to call the game as a catcher and give me great insight on pitches while at the plate batting.
