I am Ricky Barnes, a switch-hitting middle infielder. While my primary positions are shortstop and second base I also catch and play some outfield. I have been playing travel baseball since the age of 10. I started switch-hitting in games consistently at age 11. During the offseason I am in a facility almost every day doing tee work, live ABs, catching drills, and taking ground balls from the middle infield positions. I also spend quite a bit of time on strength, speed and agility.
My goal as a ballplayer is to play baseball in college at a high level. Every game I go out there and leave my heart on the field. My goal is to do what is best for the team. I am a leader on the field and off and am known as one who is always picking up my teammates. Feedback I've received from coaches has always been positive, I'm coachable, I listen, I hustle and have solid baseball IQ.
My freshman year I was a 3-sport athlete, in addition to baseball, I played basketball and golf while maintaining a 4.0 weighted GPA. I treat my schoolwork like baseball as it is very important to me.
