Personal Statement

Hi and thank you for taking the time, to read my personal statement.

I am a 6’ 1" and 228lb class of 2022 catcher 3rd base, quick with soft hands and good feet, am a hard-working student-athlete who is willing to go above and beyond for what it takes to be successful in everything I do.

I am a leader on and off the field as well as in the classroom with my classmates. I enjoy working out, playing with my dog, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

I hit very well, across and in the gaps of middle outfield with 3 balls hitting the wall in left field stadium and one went ground rule double over the wall.

10/13/2019 - College PREP - Romeoville (Chicago), IL Matt continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.10 with accuracy and zip (82 mph velocity) on his throws. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to square up stance and work to get his body down sooner. At 3B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through a crouched setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

16 teams - 15u teams (made up of players across NA and the DR (Latin America), competed in this event and the RED (Matt's team) placed first in the tournament. M hit a two run double to tie the game and force it into extra innings, where the Red team scored again in the 10th inning to take the championship. During this tournament Matt archive several most valuable moments in fields and again in Batting.
