Many people like to avoid failure and its challenges, whereas I see failure as a way to strive forward and become the best version of myself. Something that Derek Jeter said always comes to mind. He said, “I love it when people doubt me. It makes me work harder to prove them wrong”(Derek Jeter). This goes to show that even a professional baseball player is doubted. While I am not a professional baseball player, this topic is close to me because there have been multiple times where I have failed but have used that as motivation to overcome that failure with hard work and perseverance. One account that comes to mind is baseball tryouts during my freshman year; I was so excited to start high school because it was a new beginning to a new chapter in my life, and most importantly a chance at playing high school baseball. Baseball has always been in my life since I was young. I started to play when I was eight, and I finally started playing travel baseball at the age of 12. Baseball has given me something that I will forever hold within my heart. I will cherish the team bonding and the hard work that I put in day in and day out. Playing high school baseball means everything to me, because if I could be successful at this level, I could have a shot at playing college ball. I remember the tryouts as being very chaotic because I was trying out alongside the varsity players. During the tryout, I remember making a few errors when we did infield; my throwing wasn’t strong enough and my hitting was okay, but to me that was the best I had.
