Maddox Yates '21 Recruiting Profile

My baseball dream started when I was a young boy playing tee ball with the town league.  I knew then that I loved to play all sports, but to play baseball was definitely my dream. My parents supported my dream to play high school and college baseball. Then I entered a nightmare. My freshman year in High School I crashed my 4 wheeler and broke my clavicle in 3 spots on my throwing arm.  I couldn't feel the pain in my shoulder, All I felt was fear of never being able to play baseball again. After having surgery and several months of therapy, I was able to try out and make the high school baseball team. Now as a Sophmore I played exclusively Varsity and my shoulder hasn't slowed me down. I felt this obstacle helped me. Due to my surgery, I wasn't able to play any sport for several months. This made me miss all my friends, coaches and most importantly reminded me of my love of sports. Also due to this injury I hope to pursue a career in healthcare.
