Personal Statement
Thank you for taking the time to review my qualifications to play in your college baseball program. I have loved the game of baseball since I was very young, and am a multi-sport athlete that also played football. I have achieved many accolades as a starting player in both sports, but my love for the game of baseball has grown stronger over the last couple years while competing at an elite level. Football has been instrumental in building my speed, strength, discipline and character, but I have set a goal to be a successful baseball player beyond high school. This includes playing for a college baseball program with a strong academic and baseball tradition that will allow me to achieve my potential both as an athlete and a student.
I believe that I will be a key contributor and leader at the college baseball level. I work year around to improve my baseball skills, so I can help my team be successful and achieve my personal goals. My coaches consistently provide feedback that I am easy to coach, a team leader, and respectful to coaches, teammates and the game of baseball. I play with a lot of confidence and enthusiasm which is contagious. Regardless of how the game is going for me or the team, I motivate and encourage my teammates to keep their heads up and always give 110% on the field.
My high school and travel team are well-known throughout the area for their excellent baseball programs. I am regular starter who year after year has led my teams in offensive and defensive statistics. I am recognized regularly for my above average hitting, and exceptional speed. This has provided me the opportunity to play with and against exceptional players, many of whom will be playing at the next level. I have been blessed with natural athletic ability, but also top tier coaching and training that has lifted my play to the next level .
I have been an honor roll student for every high school semester. I currently have a 3.7 GPA and am interested in pursuing a degree in Engineering. Like on the baseball field, I challenge myself in the classroom by taking several honors and AP courses. I plan to enroll in my high school’s engineering academy which will establish a strong foundation for my academic career.
In summary, my goal is to attend a college where I can achieve both my academic and athletic aspirations while leading and inspiring my fellow students and teammates to do the same.
