Kyle Yang '15 Recruiting Profile

My name is Kyle Yang and I am in the class of 2015 at Lyons Township High School (LT) in LaGrange, Illinois.  The baseball program at LT has a tradition of success.  I am proud to be a member of the team and to be able to affect the team in a positive way. I am a RHP and an outfielder. I am very coachable and positive. LT is also a very good academic high school, and I received a golden "L" award for achieving honor roll my freshman and sophomore year.

One thing that separates me from my peers is my knowledge of the game.  I am very baseball smart and know the ins and outs of the positions I play, especially pitching.  My teammates expect me to know how a play works or what pitch sequence would be best in a particular situation.  It's good to know that your team counts on you for that.  Another attribute that sets me apart is my love and passion for the game.  This makes me hungry for knowledge.  I am a student of the game, all aspects of the game.  I enjoy all levels of play (HS, college, MiLB, and MLB) and learn something of value from all games that I can apply to my own game.

The game of baseball has taught me to be mentally tough and prepared.  It has taught me focus, dedication, aspiration and self-motivation. At LT, for example, there were no off days. The baseball program at LT has been successful because of the work ethic. LT is a successful and competitive program, and I have been able to participate in 3 springs seasons and 3 summer seasons, one of which was summer state runner-up (2013).

I have a below average frame and this quality especially motivates me to excel.  I admire undersized pitchers, for instance Tim Lincecum, Craig Kimbrel or Mike Leake.  No one expect them to be as good as they are, to have success competing again much bigger players.  My stature motivates me because I have to be better.  I have to be smarter, more mechanically sound, more efficient.  It gives me a good feeling to perform well against bigger players.  It is validation for everything that I have worked for.

Pertaining to college, I have interest in marketing. Through marketing, I wish to continue to share the game with others.
