Matthew Gordon '24 Recruiting Profile

I first became interested in baseball at a very young age. I watched my dad play baseball in a league and knew from that point, that was a sport I wanted to play.  I have played soccer, basketball and baseball since I was seven, quickly realizing that while I love being involved in sports, my passion clearly was for baseball.  I have gained many important life qualities through playing sports, including listening, patience, desire, restraint, dedication and effort.  These life qualities are equally applicable in baseball.  You will never see my emotions get the best of me, even when I have terrible days.  One thing I have always been told since the first time I started playing sports is that I am extremely coachable.  I will always listen to advice I get from coaches, and adjust the way I play to get better. I realize there is so much more I can learn about sports and life and that coaches and teachers impart me with that knowledge. My academic goals for high school are to determine what I want to do with my life. Right know, I know I want good grades and a future in business.  Since nobody ever knows when sports will end for you, I realize academics are an extremely important part of the high school and college careers.
