Personal Statement
Baseball is my passion; I have been playing since I was about 4 years old. From a young age, I have played in different leagues in Summer and in Fall thus giving me many experiences in which to learn and grow. Baseball has shown me that you have to overcome adversity to succeed, which has made me determined to not give up or become discouraged and to always focus on getting better.
Throughout the years, baseball has also given me many outstanding qualities that would make me a strong asset . It has given me a passion to improve as a player and find ways I can contribute to my team’s success. I feel I would bring good character, such as tough mental and moral qualities to a team.
I have focused on developing my skills as a pitcher, while improving my play at second base and in the outfield. Every role on the team has taught me how to become mentally stronger. If I have an unsuccessful at bat, I have learned to reset and concentrate on the next opportunity. Pitching also presents its own challenges. I may not always agree with the Umpire's calls, but I have learned to not show my emotions and continue to play the game. This was a harder lesson to learn, but one I am continually working on.
Focus, hard work, and dedication define everything I do in life. I have always taken as much pride in my schoolwork as my athletic achievements. Maintaining a high GPA, no matter the level of classes, is very important to me.
I am looking forward to finding a school that will allow me to have a well-rounded college experience consisting of a great education and to follow my lifelong dream of playing baseball at the college level.
