John Gaba '23 Recruiting Profile

I am currently an uncommitted senior at Palatine High School in Palatine, Illinois and will be graduating with the class of 2023. I’m actively looking at colleges where I can pursue journalism or education, while continuing to develop my passion for baseball. 

While my primary position has been catcher for the last 7 years (both for high school and travel),  I am a utility player that can also be utilized at first and third base, pitcher, as well as left and right field. After feeling a bit slow on the bases and behind the plate, I lost 40 pounds my junior year by working out and eating healthier. This definitely helped me become  more agile and faster.  While I continue to improve my physical strength, I'm always seeking ways to enhance my mental strength (on and off the field) as well.

I'm very easy to get along with and love the game of baseball. I enjoy working with and sharing my knowledge with younger players. Most importantly, I always welcome constructive criticism as a learning opportunity and a way to grow.
