Personal Statement
I played at St. John's University in New York my first two years of college. I redshirted my freshman year of '07-'08. I stayed in New York that summer to play in the ACBL. I had a productive summer and was named to the all-star team. As a redshirt freshman in '08-'09 I appreared in 11 games. At the conclusion of the season I met with the coaching staff and was told that I would not be an everyday player next season. Upon hearing this I decided it was in my best interest to transfer. I made no immediate decision about which school I would attend next. I played for the Winchester Royals in the Valley League in Virginia this past summer. I once again played well and was named to the all-star team. Toward the end of the summer I made my school decision. I decided to attend Daytona State College, a JUCO in Florida. My initial plan was to be there for this year only and then transfer back to a Division 1 school for my last two years of eligibility. Things did not go according plan, however, and I had to return home after only a month to have shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum. My shoulder had been a nagging problem for about two years. I was told it was tendonitis so I continued to throw and made it worse. I had the surgery on October 2nd. I am now six months since surgery and I have just completed my rehab. I have been cleared to resume all baseball activities. I am currently taking 15 credits at a local community college near my house to ensure that I will be eligible in the Fall. My goal is to return to a Division 1 school. I do realize I will have to obtain a waiver from the NCAA in order to play right away because I had to leave Daytona State early. I don't forsee that being a problem since I had to leave due to a medical issue. I have two years of eligibility left and I am excited to get back in school and back on the field.
