Personal Statement

My name is Carson Paulik and I’m 5’11 170 lbs and I bat right-handed and throw right-handed and I will graduate in 2026. I’ve been playing baseball since I was just a little kid and from the first time I stepped onto the field to now, I feel excitement for the sport and love the energy, competitiveness, and every aspect of the game. I’ve been a Chicago Cubs fan my whole life and I look up to Kyle Hendricks on the mound. I love the way he stays calm and rarely shows his emotions and I think that is a very important thing when pitching. My goals are to play college ball and hopefully succeed and make it to the big leagues. Easier said than done, but I know I need to work my tail off now and in the upcoming years. I know I have the determination and drive to work harder and push myself to achieve my goals. On the field, I am a team player no matter what position I play. I can play at any position I am put in and am quick to adapt. My main positions are pitcher, 3rd base and catcher. I appreciate the strategy and challenge when on the mound. I can use my knowledge and skill and it makes me work hard and stay focused. I stay in shape by being a multi-sport athlete and working hard in the off-season. I am consistently a starter/leader for my baseball, basketball, football and bowling teams. My teammates and I support each other on and off the field. Academics are just important to me and I carry a 4.00 GPA which helps me analyze live game situations and adjust accordingly.

  • Notes from Coach Furuto: You have a good skill set for your age so keep it up! For you being a 2026, the weight room will be big for your development. Offensively, the strength will help as you learn how your body moves. For your age, you have a great starting point for your swing. Staying in your legs help you use the energy created by the load to use to hit the ball. Staying in your legs will use your legs correctly allowing the barrel to stay in the zone longer helping you hit the ball harder consistently. The longer the barrel stays on the ball the harder it will come off. Also with the load, adding some separation will be good to again enhance your ability to hit the ball harder. As the front foot goes forward on the stride the hands go back creating a load to get to a strong position to hit from! Keep working on your arm strength as well. Get out and long toss and lengthen that arm out! Play around with different pressures on your grips for secondary pitches which will help to enhance your feel. Playing catch with those pitches will also help you to throw more consistently because you build up reps and confidence!
