My name is Rylie Goodwin I am a dedicated baseball player that has been playing in Australia since the age of four. I first became interested in baseball when my dad played for the local club baseball team, as I watched the games and the team environment I had to be apart of It, I have always been an energetic person that is willing to try new things and be apart of teams. I am a loyal player that has played for the same club team (Weston creek Indians baseball) for over 14 years, as well as playing for club baseball I have also been playing in the Canberra high performance academy of three years to enhance my skills and game repetitions. I have always had a vision and a dream of baseball that has gotten me through my schooling years. I believe that baseball in its self is a great way of meeting new people and coming together over common interests. I have made life long friends that have not only help me grow as a person but help me in growing my level of skill and ability. In college I would hope to study any nutritional and exercise sporting subjects as it is a field that I am interested in as it can be applied to my sporting and life.
I started out my baseball career playing in every position a left hander can play in, from a young age I found a love in pitching and took pride in doing this as much as possible. When I wasn’t pitching I could predominantly be found at 1st base or in center field, I am a right side dominant hitter that has always managed to string hits together throughout the season hitting in all parts of the lineup. As I got older pitching became more of a focus and I started to begin specializing as a pitcher. This came about when coaches and ex professional players started telling me I had a good frame and the tools of a pitcher and that this is where I would be most successful in the game. As well as playing baseball at my club for 14 years I have also represented the Canberra in national tournaments in both the under 16 and under 18 level.
I am highly motivated to play baseball at a college level and will work hard to make this happen. I am an extremely competitive person by nature which means as soon as I step inside the white lines I put in 100% to compete at the best of my ability and do whatever it takes to help the team achieve its goal. The pupil size of the school is not overly important as I have attended both large and small schools with no problems at either. Location again is not a big deal as I’m already travelling from Australia another couple of hours here or there wont make a difference.
I appreciate you giving your time to read my personal statement and I wish you the best of luck in the up coming year.
Regards Rylie Goodwin
