As a kid growing up I played all the basic sports; football, soccer, baseball, and basketball. I hated basketball the most, but when it came down to the sport I enjoyed, baseball was it. That’s how it all started, my love for baseball. I played baseball throughout my pre-teen years. I played for the boys and girls club, Cal Ripkin baseball camp, and Cooperstown, New York. I consider myself a more chill player. When I struck someone out pitching, caught a ball for the out, got an RBI, or stole a base, I was just happy to help my team get closer to a win. Winning games made me feel proud to be part of a winning team. If we lose a game, I only beat myself up if I knew I didn't give it one hundred percent or I had too many errors. I learned this about myself when I joined my first traveling team at the age of 12. Before the heat of the moment or in the heat of the moment, I was more fidgety and nervous and made errors and mistakes. As I matured in the game of baseball, I truly learned that I was going to make mistakes, and it was important for me to learn from them, improve, and try not to make them again. This is the mindset I have on the field, and off the field in my everyday life.
As a freshman playing high school varsity baseball, I was the starting pitcher, reliever, and sometimes the leadoff batter. My biggest moment as a freshman was during the county championship when my coach told me I was the starting pitcher. I didn't understand it since we had upperclassmen who were pitchers. Nervousness started to come over me, but I knew I had a job to do. We ended up losing the game, but it made me realize that I had much more growing and skill development to achieve in this wonderful game called baseball. I played baseball for my high school as a freshman and sophomore. Due to COVID-19, baseball was suspended during my junior year. I continued to work on my skill development and improve my game by taking batting lessons, practicing in my backyard and continued to play on a traveling team. On the traveling team, I'm the leadoff batter, fastest runner, and a great left fielder. I love this game, and I'm going to go as far as it'll take me.
