Matthew Rich '26 Recruiting Profile

I knew I wanted to play with the big boys at the collegiate level when I stepped on that tiny T-Ball diamond at the age of 4 and played with the 6 year olds. I am aware that playing baseball in college is incredibly challenging, but ever since I started playing, I have been willing to do whatever it takes to develop into a player who can play baseball in college.

Even when I was injured, playing poorly, or simply not mentally prepared to play a baseball game, I always strived to be an incredible teammate, team leader, and tone setter. Numerous coaches and mentors have always remarked on how coachable I am. I strive to be one of the players and prospects who works the hardest you'll ever find. Every day, I concentrate on improving myself by lifting weights, honing my skills, learning more about baseball and the mental game, or even simply relaxing and playing games and watching instructional videos.

I've always tried to do my best in the classroom, both as a student and as a classmate. Never have I been the popular kid who only associates with other popular kids. I've always made an effort to sit a lot with new individuals, and I even chat to kids who might not have somebody to talk to. That's just how my wonderful parents raised me, and I can't thank them enough for everything they've done to support me thus far in both my baseball career and in life.

Finally, I want to go to a university where I can challenge myself both in the classroom and on the playing field. I'm open to all possibilities because I eventually want to find the best college match at the toughest level of opposition. I want to excel as a role model for all of my classmates and fulfill my family's and my parents' expectations.
