My name is Aidan Sullivan and I am a member of the class of 2024. Throughout my baseball career, I have been fortunate to play with talented teammates; play for knowledgeable coaches; and play on successful teams. My experiences in baseball have taught me about team work, work ethic and perseverance. Each one of these qualities have influenced who I am as a student, player and person.
Academically, I have achieved high honors/honor roll status in my high school career while taking a full honors/accelerated course load. I am as proud of this achievement as I am of any accomplishment on the field.
Athletically, I began my freshman year on the JV team and was promoted to the varsity squad late in the season . I spent my time on the varsity backing up the senior catcher defensively while DHing and pinch hitting. This experience provided me the opportunity to identify those areas of my game to focus on in the off-season. My short-term goal is to be the starting catcher on varsity my sophomore year.
All of my baseball and personal experiences to this point have led me to my long-term goal of playing collegiate baseball. I realize that less than 10% of high school baseball players will ever achieve this goal and that talent alone will not get me there. So what sets me apart?
I approach baseball in much the same way that I approach my academics. I don’t know everything about a subject but everyday presents an opportunity to learn. Learning starts with a desire to improve at the hands of a teacher/professor/coach (team work). Learning requires hard work to comprehend and repetition to master (work ethic). Learning does not happen immediately and includes failures along the way (perseverance). The qualities that have influenced who I am as a student, player and person are the qualities that I hope will help me achieve my goal of playing baseball at the collegiate level, along with talent.
Thank you
