Personal Statement

My goals in the classroom and athletically are the same:  to excel to be the best student and athlete I can become.  I also want to see my community succeed and I volunteer by raising money for local causes including the Western Massachusetts Labor Action and I coach youth basketball (another sport I love to play) at the Pittsfield Boy's & Girl's Club.  My work ethic is evident by increasing my fastball from 83mph to 86mph this summer which is a result of many hours in the gym and the help of a growth spurt.  My brother is 6'4'' and my father is 6'3'', so I hope to catch them both soon.  I appreciate the look and hope to hear from you or your team soon.

Sincerely,

Matthew J. Lee

  • SCOUTING REPORT FROM THE BF: 01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (HS) Matthew is an athletic RHP/OF prospect who showcased his skills during the Pre-Season Prospects Tournament. On the mound, Matthew gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He accelerates through his release and finishes square to the plate. Matthew shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 85mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 65-67mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 70-72mph. In the field, Matthew gets into position on time and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate throws with life through his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is controlled getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to strong line drives and gap to gap pop. Overall, Matthew is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

  • Increased FB to 85, spin rate to 2237and received unsolicited praise from Steve Alhona with a Tweet, "Loved his arm this summer. He's a good one !!" From PBR: Matt Lee, RHP, Taconic, 2023- 5-foot-10, 180-pound, average athletic frame, showing good strength, body and movements work with minimal effort. A right-handed pitcher, working from a hybrid start. Quicker leg kick, gets to a good gather, staying over backside, higher hand set. The stride is slightly across the body, with pull down with front arm. The arm action is clean and fast on the backside, working from a higher slot. Worked three pitches at this event, attacks and is very aggressive. The fastball was up to 85 mph, bore action to it, gets on the hitter quickly. The breaking ball was clocked at 63-68 mph, with a bigger top to bottom 12/6 break. Mixed in a changeup as well. Worked a quick tempo, arm is really good.
