Ever since I can remember, I have always played sports. It is who I am. It defines me. But of the sports that I have played, and still play, baseball is my one, true passion.
Some of my earliest memories are of me holding a bat in the front yard and my dad pitching to me. I think I could swing a bat and throw a baseball before I could even walk!
I first started playing organized baseball at age 5 at the local YMCA Tee-ball program, then progressed to playing little league, then middle school, and finally high school and travel baseball. As a freshman, I was fortunate to earn a starting position on varsity as a shortstop at Seekonk High School. I worked extremely hard for that position and I continue to focus on improving my skills with hopes to play baseball at the college level. I earned the sportsmanship award this past year for being a good teammate, leader, and always having a positive attitude. Being an athlete has provided me with many skills, such as being coachable, having good time management, and exhibiting a strong work ethic. I see coaching and feedback as an opportunity to improve my skills and grow as a baseball player, multi-sport athlete, and student.
Not only am I competitive on the baseball field, but I am also competitive as a starting quarterback and middle linebacker in football, a multi-positional basketball player, and as a student in the classroom. Along with being a three-sport varsity athlete, I do exceptionally well in school. I have a 3.98 GPA while taking primarily all AP and honors classes. I have a STEM concentration, hoping to major in engineering. I hope to find a college that will allow me the opportunity to continue to play baseball, the sport I love, while also earning a degree in engineering. I believe that I have been successful so far in sports and academics because I consistently push myself to excel in everything I do. I know how important it is to challenge myself in the classroom, weight room, and on the field to be the best that I can be. This is the approach that I have taken from elementary and middle school to high school and is the same approach that I intend to bring with me to college!
