Derek Paris '22 Recruiting Profile

I am 2022 Catcher out of Lanesborough, Massachusetts. My goal is to play college baseball and then get drafted and I am willing to spend all my time to get there. I am a great candidate for your team because I want to out work everyone while being a leader to everyone else, pushing them to be the greatest they can be, so we have the most successful team.  I have always been looked up to as a leader because of the way I represent myself.  I work hard in the classroom, while also working hard when nobody is watching. I am a very athletic catcher. I work extremely hard on my defense because I want to gain trust in all my pitchers. I also am extremely coachable and always want to learn more and figure out how to become better as an athlete and a person. I am always trying to make others better, in the classroom and on the field. This past year I tutored a freshman in college in calculus, I helped him bump up his grade from failing to a B.  I also push everyone to get better on the field, by working out with them, getting work on the field with them, or talking with them about the mental game of baseball. I have a great baseball IQ; I am able to pick up little tips from pitchers, batters, and runners. I have always called my own games because I base the pitches I call off of the batters swings, how the pitcher is throwing, how the ump is calling the game, and the previous pitches. I am very competitive and want to win every game, so I will never take a play off.
