Personal Statement
My name is Cooper Powers and I am a 6'1" 165 lbs outfielder and left handed pitcher. I attend Sparta High School in Sparta, Michigan. I am 3 year varsity starter in the outfield. As a sophomore I was awarded with an All-District award. My junior year I helped lead our team to a district title. This was truly one of the greatest experiences of my life. It showed me how important selflessness, teamwork, and perseverance really is. I hit in the 2 hole for the majority of the high school career and led the team in stolen bases last year. I was also had one of the top batting averages on the team. I take pride in learning on the field and off the field. The classroom should always come before your athletics and I truly believe in that. During the off season, I've been working on my mechanics and improving my overall strength. I have been playing the game I love since the age of 3. My family and friends are my greatest inspiration to play this amazing game. Without them pushing me to become the best ball player I can be, I would be nowhere near where I am today. When i'm not out on the field I enjoy hanging out with friends, swimming, and playing backyard basketball and football. One main reason I love baseball is just the sheer competitiveness it has. I am a huge fan of cutthroat baseball. Doing whatever it takes to get the W. Pouring your heart out onto the field and giving it all you have. When it comes to college, I want to pursue a degree in business. More specifically, I would like to get a degree in accounting. In conclusion, I would like to let all of the college coaches that are interested in me that I am a very hardworking and driven ball player. I give it my all and I've put all my heart and time into baseball. I work to try to be a better player and student everyday. Every coach I have ever had has told me that i am a very coachable player. I feel like that is a great attribute to have. Respectfully, Cooper Powers.
