Being a member of a team is more than just a group of athletes competing together, it's an opportunity for growth as a person and player. I have been a part of a team for as long as I can remember. Baseball is one of the things that drives me and being on a team has given me the chance to play many roles. As a catcher I am able to be a leader, supporter, communicator, and contributor to the success of the team both on and off the field.
Being on a team has helped provide focus for my academics and has helped improve my time management skills. As a result of my focus and determination, I am a member of the National Honors Society, World Language Honors Society, Athletic Leadership Council, and have received the Scholar Athlete Award for each sports season I have participated in. Being on a team has been a huge factor in achieving high honors and honors for each trimester of my high school career so far.
My love of team sports has also lead me into coaching younger baseball teams. Coaching has allowed me to share my baseball knowledge, and build my leadership and communication skills, all while laughing and learning along with the young players.
I would love to see how my focus, determination, leadership skills, and love of the game could positively impact a college baseball team. I have enjoyed all of the experiences that being a member of team has given me. Continuing this camaraderie, and learning from and growing with teammates at the college level would add to the invaluable experiences I have had as a player.
