Evan Espinal '26 Recruiting Profile

My name is Daveas Espinal and I am currently a junior at Monroe-Woodbury High School. My passion has always been to become a professional baseball player. At the young age of 3, I would sleep with my baseball bat, glove, and ball. My father was the biggest influence in tapping into my love for baseball as I use to watch him play when I was younger. When I picked up a bat, I naturally swung left handed, even though I am predominantly right handed at everything else that I do. A unique characteristic that I possess is the ability to play all 9 positions extremely well. Although I am listed as a shortstop, I am still able to play the other 8 positions with the same capability. My coaches on both varsity and travel baseball consider me a “super utility” player with a high I.Q. on the diamond and at the plate.

Playing baseball has taught me how to become a leader on and off the field. I am very mindful of my actions, as being the eldest, I need to set a good example for my little brother and little sister. Outside of baseball, I like to teach young up and coming baseball athletes like my little brother how to play baseball. I also volunteer at the local soup kitchen helping those in need. I feel it’s important to give back to the community and those less fortunate.

I do not just play baseball for me. I also play baseball for my family, as they are the foundation and backbone for my current and future successes. Baseball isn’t just a sport or game to me, it is my passion. Everything I do is somehow related to baseball. Academically, I strive to be great in school. My current GPA is a 3.3, and I recently scored an 1140 on my SAT. I may not be the smartest person in my class, but no one will work harder than me to achieve my athletic and academic goals.
