Hi Coach,
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I realize that finding the best collegiate opportunity that will fit my long term goals is an integral part of my future. Essentially I'm searching for the right college experience that will meet my goals both from an academic, as well as an athletic standpoint. Although currently I am an undecided major, eventually I am confident that I will choose a major that will further my education and to provide me with the tools necessary to achieve my long term career goals. As a coach, I also realize that you are looking for student athletes who will be the best fit for your program as well. While each coach has different qualities they look for in a recruit, I do feel I possess certain characteristics that most coaches find desirable. Having been raised in a traditional family setting, both of my parents have stressed the value of hard work, passion and individual character. That has been instilled in me, no matter what I pursue in life. Hard work, dedication and being a perfectionist are my strongest assets. I feel that's most evident with my academics and my commitment to my athletics. I do try to reach my full potential in everything that I do, both inside and outside of the classroom. I fervently believe putting in the extra work with homework and time spent in the weight room, are integral parts of reaching success in the classroom and on the baseball field.
Sports have always been a big facet in my life. I thrive on competition and have always enjoyed being a part of a team. Some of my fondest memories growing up, were from my experiences playing team baseball, hockey as well as football. I have been very fortunate to not only play on winning teams, but to also have GREAT coaches along the way. With that said, both of my parents have encouraged me to participate in as many sports as possible into my late teens. Furthermore my father had played collegiate baseball at a very high and competitive level. With his input and guidance, I've realized that baseball is also in my blood and is a true passion of mine. It is my hope that I can share some of those same collegiate experiences that my dad has had.
While baseball metrics are important for coaches to choose the best athletes for their program, I feel there are also certain unique qualities that make me an attractive candidate for your team. Fortunately I was born with the ability of being ambidextrous, which has ultimately helped me not only become a better baseball player, but also to be a better student of the game. Being able to throw with both hands at a young age, has given me the flexibility to play all 9 positions over the years. With that said, most recently I have settled into playing my primary positions of first base (throwing left handed), catcher (throwing right handed) and pitching with both arms. Regardless of the position, I feel I am both comfortable and confident in providing you that flexibility on the baseball diamond in any of those positions.
Essentially I have always been the kind of player who responds well to a coaches input. I also realize that being a good teammate both on and off the field, helps to build cohesiveness and positive personal connections with players and coaches alike, that will last a lifetime. Thank you for your time and consideration. I do hope to continue the conversation and to share with you in person the benefits of having me represent not only your college, but your baseball program as well.
Sincerely...Steven Kraus
