James Downes '25 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is James Downes. I have been playing baseball since I could remember. I am also a Black Belt in Shotokan Karate, which took me ten years to achieve. Baseball has taught me many valuable lessons and helped define who I am. I am a great teammate; I bring a lot of energy and passion to every game.  I am a team player.

My ultimate goal is to continue my baseball career well past a collegiate level. My coachability, hard work ethic and determination will allow me to get there.  My biggest competition is myself; I strive to be a better version of myself than I was the day before.  

I enjoy playing all sports but have found a true passion for baseball and how it makes me feel.  I have felt this way ever since I picked up a baseball at two years old.  I have continued to apply myself to this passion each and every day.

As a student-athlete I pride myself on my studies.  I fully understand the importance of my academic career.  I feel I would be a true asset to any school and team.
