To All College Coaches,
I would like to begin by thanking you for taking time to look at my profile. I am a student at Chaminade High School. I love to be active in the areas of athletics, music and academics. I am a cellist in the orchestra at Chaminade and I am a participant in a sodality that meets every Monday to discuss religion and current events. I would like to consider myself to be a hardworking and dedicated person. It was my decision to go to Chaminade for my High School education. This means that I need to take the train to school and home, every single day. There are obviously late nights and I feel that nights like these are shaping me into the man I hope to become.
Baseball is a not just a sport, but it’s a way of life in my opinion. I am currently a pitcher and shortstop for the Long island Scouts. In 2016 I began playing for the New York Nationals and played for both the 14 and 16u teams. I met my friend Joshua Mileto playing for the 16u team. He tragically died on August 10, 2017. At his funeral his mother, whom I hadn’t met previously, told me the stories that Josh would tell her. She asked me to never quit in honor of her son. That just gave the initiative to keep working. Baseball means everything to me and I want to be remembered as someone who always gave it their all.
I believe that a college can benefit from schooling me because of my abilities and determination. In regards to my abilities, I consider myself to be hardworking in every activity that I participate. I continuously practice my instruments and speeches, while making time for baseball and schoolwork. I am determined to be the best player that I can be. Being from the Northeast exposes me to all kinds of weather and it doesn’t matter what the weather is, as long as I am able to play baseball. I played a day and a half after being released from the hospital with a serious bacterial infection, that hurt the back of my knee, making it hard to run. I still came in third in a running competition. I currently wake up at 4:00 A.M. on a daily basis for both running and weight training. Waking up at that early hour allows me to prepare for a challenging schedule to manage between schoolwork and baseball at the college level.
Thank you for your time and I hope to be in touch.
Yours truly,
Robert Burgos Jr.
