Personal Statement

I have played baseball for as long as I can remember. It has always had such an influential role in my life. At a young age, I decided that I would want to play college baseball and have worked hard at making that dream a reality. I like to think that I am one of the hardest-working people my age. I always try to get my work done right away so I have time later towards the due date so I have time for baseball. Even when I do not feel good, if I am exhausted, stressed, or even sick, I still try to get it done fast so I do not have to worry about rushing. I do well in school while training and playing sports most of the year and I always am trying to find new ways to keep getting better. Whether this is to help learn something in school, working on a new pitch, or my mechanics with a coach. I see my size as a big part of my game. I try to take every advantage of my height on the mound like taking a long stride and reaching out closer to home plate. While my velocity may not be very high, my spin rate is. So my 74-75 mph fastball seems a lot faster with the high spin rate as well as how far out I get to home plate. I can keep my team in the game when starting for multiple innings. I can also close out a game or keep my team right on the doorstep on tying a game or taking the lead when coming in relief. We once had a doubleheader at Diamond Nation to make up a rainout and were running low on pitchers towards the end of the second game. I had already come out of the bullpen to close out the first game. I told my coach that I was ready to get back on the mound for an inning if needed. He put me in the last two innings because I had a quick first and felt good. I ended up closing out that game as well and ending the day and tournament with two saves. In my future school, I am looking for somewhere near my home state, New York, about 3 hours or less away. I am also looking for a school that has one of my majors, exercise science and/or athletic training as well as a good baseball program that is interested in me and fits my skill level.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
