Personal Statement

I am looking to at least be given the opportunity to try out for a small, medium or large size Division III school team. I prefer to continue my education in the Northeast, but am willing to consider any part of the country with a school that fits my needs academically, athletically and financially.   I am willing to play any position that a prospective coach feels my skills are best fit for.

I have been playing competitive baseball since the age of seven. I started out as a middle infielder, outfielder and pitcher, switched permanently to third base and outfield at 12 years old.  I was the starting third baseman and corner outfielder for two years at modified, and two years at JV.  Starting DH and back up third basemen during junior year at varsity.   During sophomore year I led my JV team in BA, hits, doubles, RBI, total bases,  slugging and OPB.  Batted .400 junior year at Varsity, including an 8 for 11 stretch in mid season. Played club ball every summer since age of 8, for Rye Brook Travel, Hard Ball, Tiger Sports Club, Westchester Academy, and Rye Greys. I also play Varsity football in the fall, and am serious about on and off season training and conditioning.  The past few summers, including this summer, in addition to conditioning and playing club baseball, I have been working full time and part time jobs (camp counseling, life guarding and coaching rookie baseball) in order to save for college expenses.

I feel that whatever skills any prospective coaches feel I lack for their particular program, in either raw talent or academic achievements, can be offset by my desire and work ethic,  and the fact that I am serious about the fundamentals of the game.   As I mentioned above, even though I have been playing primarily third base and outfield the past couple of years, I am willing and able to adapt to any position that any coach feels my skills are best fit for.  As far as playing time, even though any player, including myself, wants to be on the field every inning of every game, I am willing to accept whatever role my coach needs me for, as long as I am part of a team and getting the best education possible.

Thanks so much.
