My name is Colton Steinfest, but people call me Bear. Since I was a little boy, I have loved the game of baseball. My goal is to play in college, like my dad. He was a pitcher at Northeastern University and he has taught me that it takes more than just skill. It takes dedication, a positive attitude and above all else, perseverance. He doesn't talk about his career much, but when I ask him at times, he says you have to love the game to be great, but you have to out- work everybody to make it. And that is my goal- to be a role model for what out-working looks like.
These past 2 years have shown me how dedication and hard work includes my efforts in the classroom. I want to be able to have all options available to me for collegiate baseball programs and that only happens with focus in class, so my goal is to maintain my current 4.0 GPA and stay on the high honor roll as I begin taking AP classes.
Baseball is only a part of my training dedication. I also run and complete endurance/speed training with my mom 4 days a week, as she competes in Marathons around the country. During the winter, I play basketball at Christian Brothers Academy while also weight training.
I know there will be setbacks and the road won't be easy, but I have what it takes mentally and physically. I haven't always been on the winning team, I know what it means to lose with grace and many of my teammates have not learned those lessons. On the flipside, I know what it means to "act like you've been there" when things are going well. Through it all, I will continue to be the steady, calm force, support everyone, and be a true team player.
I love this game and I will give any coach and team I play for my all! The game of baseball and this process is my dream, that's why I am going to make it.
Thank you for your consideration,
Bear Steinfest
