In 2016 we won the Valle Tournament, the Diamond Division at Lancer and the MCBR 14U Open Division. Also our record since 2014 is 95-17-2. In Cooperstown in 2013, we finished 7th out of 104 teams. Coaches comments from this season: Alex has all the qualities of a 3rd hitter, arguably the universal spot for a coach to put his best hitter. A high batting average, a high on base percentage and excellent power numbers. He strikes out infrequently and has the discipline to walk when he doesn't get his pitch. Without skirting the issue of his last tournament, his team mates showed their feelings for his hitting prowess and leadership by voting him the HR hitter in the competition. This is the highest level of respect from your peers that can only be earned. For the majority of the season he was ranked in the top 3 of every single measurable offensive category we track on a team that hits well. Defensively, Alex is the perhaps the most remarkable youth baseball fielder we have seen. Like his brother, there is nowhere I would not put him and feel comfortable. I have seen smoother players, I have seen stronger players, I have seen highly skilled players. I have not seen a more consistent defensive player. In the dugout, he makes us shake our heads in each and every game. I am certain there is not one player on our team who doesn't look for him to make the big play when the going gets tough. They would choose him to make that play over all others. Alex has the emotional control and quiet confidence that coaches seek. He is our team captain in my mind, without the title. As for areas of improvement for Alex to focus on from my perception: 1. His recent tournament hitting struggle shows us all that we are all fallible and need to fight through tough times. I'm not sure what I would have put here if that didn't happen to him. I told him that this experience would end up being good for him, and believe that. 2. Using the whole field. I'm splitting hairs here, but you have the ability to paint both lines as well as drive the middle all in the same game.
