What does baseball mean to me? In my eleven years of playing baseball; Baseball has given me purpose and constantly given me room for growth. Whether I was growing physically over the years or mentally battling my thoughts before my next at bat, I was always growing. Baseball has made me a better person because it meant I was always setting new goals for myself. It has made me so open to improvement and bettering myself on the field and as a person. Baseball to me is having something to look forward to after a long day at school. Or waking up earlier than other kids my age on the weekends and working my hardest to be better than I was yesterday. Baseball is competing with another team but to me, it’s also being in competition with myself. Sometimes I have been afraid of not being enough or not living up to the these goals I’ve had for so long. Having supportive parents to push me through it all has been my biggest blessing over the years. They've always saw my potential and reminded me that if baseball was what I really wanted to do for the rest of my life, no one could work harder than me. I had to want it more than anyone else. It was early on that I knew baseball was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I’ve always played on my local neighborhood sports team, travel teams, and now my varsity high school baseball team. Next, I’m looking forward to excelling in my remaining high school years, getting into a good college, and hopefully one day going pro. I am looking forward to achieving so many more milestones in my future and making myself and my family proud. Baseball has been and will always be a huge part of my life, regardless of where the rest of my baseball journey takes me, I will forever be grateful for what it has taught me and the lessons I have learned. Number 17, for life.
