Committed to Lenoir Community College shortly after the Top Prospect Games. Athletic build with room to grow at 5-foot-10, 180 pounds. Tall, open stance with a smooth load, triggered by a leg kick shifting his weight to the back side. Some strength in the lower half. Consistent line drive producer, looks to drive in both gaps. Works for extension with better than average bat speed and some feel for the barrel. Exit velocity of 88 mph. At times late with an aggressive stride can be late. Good defender, can play multiple positions. On the infield, clean and quick hands with fluid footwork. Consistent catch with trust in his hands. Rhythm with the feet and release. Long arm action and high-¾ release. Fights some stiffness in release creating some accuracy issues at times. Positional velocity of 77 mph from shortstop. From the outfield uses a long arm swing and over-the-top release with average carry at 79 mph out of the hand. Average accuracy. Ran a 7.21 sixty on the laser timer. Plays with pace in games. Good baserunning instincts. Home to first time clocked at 4.38.

Average 5 feet 10, 180-pound build. Hits from the right side using an athletic, balanced, slightly open setup. Uses a toe tap in his load with good rhythm, getting his lower half through the ball. Barrel works level through the zone, getting long at times. Looks to get the barrel out and turn on balls working mostly middle to pull side. Exit velocity recorded at 82 mph. In the outfield he shows average hands with fluid feet, playing through the ball and running into his throws. Long arm action throwing from a high ¾ slot with his arm peaking at 78 mph with some accuracy to his throws. Plays through balls on the infield, fielding them deep at times. Long arm action with carry to his throws topping at 79 mph across the diamond. Quickness exists in the frame, running a 7.06 in the 60-yard dash, accelerating well off the line.

Marcus is a talented and athletic 2019 SS and OF. At SS, Marcus presents a low/early glove and has a quick first step to the ball. He funnels the ball into his body and works from the ground up. In the OF, Marcus has a quick first step to the ball and creates good angles to the ball. He works behind the ball and creates momentum in his lower half with his throws. At the plate, Marcus starts in a squared stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He attacks the ball with his lower half and stays balanced through contact. Marcus will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Scout Evaluation: Marcus is a hard worker who brings a great attitude to the field every day. He is a very coachable player who takes what he is taught and puts it into play. At SS, he shows active footwork and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He works around the GB from right to left, funnels smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. Continuing to work to play through the ball by gaining ground to 1B will help to get more into his throws and aid in his development at SS. With the bat, this RHH displays an athletic/open setup with active hands. He gets loaded and takes a hack at pitches in the zone (going 3 for 7 with 2 singles, a double, and a walk). Once on base he's aggressive, as he swiped 2 bags. By working to stride square more consistently, it will allow full use of his lower 1/2, resulting in more untapped power. A 2019 grad, Marcus has tools with upside on the diamond.

Scout Evaluation: Marcus continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities. In the MIF, he displays quick/athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft/sure and he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds/turn of the double play. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry across the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half leads the swing and he maintains balance throughout.

Scout Evaluation: Marcus Sanchez is a 2019 SS/2B/OF with a 5-8 165 lb. frame from Fayetteville, NC who attends Terry Sanford HS. Medium frame with an athletic build. Projects for additional strength. Ran a 7.36 sixty-yard dash. Primary shortstop with smooth, fundamental footwork while surrounding and working through the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball out front with clean, deliberate exchange. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot creating occasional on line carry to the bag, topped at 71 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing sound footwork while closing to the baseball. Smooth paced transition and generated good momentum into release, topped at 74 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and reaching front side stride. Lower half shows rotational actions to contact while hands launched on a direct, compact path. Controlled the barrel well throughout the zone and repeated swing mechanics. Primarily worked the baseball to the middle of the field, but also flashed the hand skills to work to opposite field as well. Very good student. PG Grade 7.5

Scout Evaluation: Athletic build at 5-foot-8, 165 pounds. Right handed hitter works from an athletic stance, while slightly open. Vertical bat with waggle and a ‘C’ load in the hands leads to some choppy rhythm. Good approach with a level bat path and a pull emphasis with an early barrel. Exit velocity topped at 80mph. On the infield, showed accuracy on throws with average carry, topping at 69mph across the diamond. Arm action is long, working to a high-3/4 with some stiffness at times. Average hands, lack a funnel, and exchange works as the feet load the arm up. Timed sixty at 7.80.

Scout Evaluation: Marcus Sanchez is a 2019 SS/2B, OF, C with a 5-8 160 lb. frame from Fayetteville, NC who attends Terry Sanford High School. Younger player with a lean, slender build, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.51 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary infielder, funnels to fields, long arm action, got in a good position to field, flashing transfer skills. At the plate, started with an open stance, high hand set, high back elbow, and a leg lift timing mechanism. Line drive swing plane with torque through lower half. Generated good leverage with quickness to hands. Worked all fields with balance. Very good student. PG Grade 7.5

Scout Evaluation: Marcus is a very solid young middle infielder that loves to compete. At the plate, his swing is smooth and under control, showing good balance, a square stride, and a direct route to the ball that results in a level swing. In his swing, he dives at times, pushing the ball. Focusing on keeping the barrel in the zone as long as possible will result in consistent line drives on all pitches. In the middle infield, he uses his athletic setup, sure feet/hands, and ball skills (working through) to makes tough plays consistently. Despite not having great speed, he shows good quickness and agility. Completing his game will include long tossing to improve arm strength. Marcus is a gamer that will be a fixture in the middle infield for years to come. (Selected for future Baseball Factory National Team Event)

Scout Evaluation: Marcus Sanchez is a 2019 C/2B with a 5-6 125 lb. frame from Fayetteville, NC who attends Terry Sanford HS. Shorter young build, slender with minimal present strength. Right handed hitter, tall stance to start with a late dip down into a crouch, lots of late moving parts, would benefit from a more stable load, short line drive swing with a good feel for the barrel, makes consistent contact and works the middle of the field. 7.49 runner, moves well behind the plate and in the infield, will be a good runner with physical maturity. Arm strength still developing for this level, second base profile at present. Plays with energy and likes to play. PG Grade 6
