Nicholas Ooten '18 Recruiting Profile

As a student athlete, we all have our own stories and all bring something different to the table when it comes to our athletic and academic abilities, accomplishments, and goals. As a child I spent countless hours outside in my yard with my mom and dad playing catch, running bases, and hitting “home runs” which is where my passion for the sport of baseball derives from. As I have grown I have developed a passion for the sport. I play hard, take my roles seriously, and support and represent myself, coaches, and my team with respect and pride. Playing the game of baseball has taught me discipline respect, sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork; all of which are lessons I would not have learned otherwise. I have went through adversity in throughout my club and school experiences which has inspired me to work harder, become stronger, and overcome all obstacles that have gotten in the way. These obstacles and the support of my family is why I have achieved what I have today.

Aside from my deep love of the game of baseball I am focused on my long term academic and career goals. Helping others has always been a big part of my life and it defines much of who I am. Being successful in achieving higher education in the field of Biomedical Engineering will allow me to continue helping others on a much larger scale than I am capable of today.
