John Harlow '24 Recruiting Profile

As a pitcher, I have always had very good control.  As I grow and develop, I am adding velocity.  My pitching shows a loose arm action and sidearm angle with consistent arm slot. As a junior, I was called up to Varsity in late April.  I was given innings against our toughest JV opponents and for Varisty, pitched in three high-leverage situations. I threw two scoreless innings against Louisville St. Xavier.

When I played summer ball for Five Star Midwest, a national travel team, my highlight was throwing three no-hit, scoreless innings against the Durham Bulls 17U team.  In 2022, in a two-tournament stretch, I threw 11 2/3 innings without giving up an earned run or letting an inherited runner score.  I walked just 4 batters in 20 1/3 innings! I earned two wins, no losses, and two saves. 

As a sophomore on La Salle's JV team, I led the team in pitching appearances (11), highest strike rate (67.4%), and had the lowest WHIP (1.062), walk rate (0.231/IP), pitches per inning, and pitches per batter.  My ERA (3.39) was third-best on the team, and I was third in IP (22 2/3). I hit .500 in limited action at the plate. When I don't play, I am always watching the games and telling our coaches or team leaders what I see.  My observations have also helped our team win games. 

I made our school's competitive Men's Vocal Ensemble, and we performed in France for the Normandy/D-Day remembrances in June of 2022. This was an amazing opportunity with memories that will last a lifetime. 

Off the field, I am committed to my faith and have gone above and beyond my high school service hour requirements, with over 325 service hours serving my community and the less fortunate.  I serve at Mass regularly and for funerals.  I have coached youth baseball 9U and 11U. In addition,  I was very active in Scouts until COVID hit, and I like to bake.  Those life skills will help me be an ideal roommate in college.
