I can’t remember when I wasn’t playing baseball. Baseball was introduced to me at a very young age . Baseball was always that sport that I never got tired of . I could play it all year long. When times were tough , baseball was always there to help me. Baseball is more than just hitting home runs, turning double plays and wining. Baseball teaches young athletes like me life lessons . Such lessons like teamwork, work ethic, overcoming adversity, humility, and Resilience. These are all lessons that will help us outside of baseball.
Many events in my life have helped shaped me into the person I am today. At a very young age I lost my newborn sister , Lindsey, to various developmental complications after birth. While my other sister , Carly , was born with neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer found in the adrenal glands. I guess it taught me to never stop fighting for what I wanted , It also made me thankful because never had to deal with these hardships. I have learned in baseball and life is to keep a short memory. Moving past the hard times and staying strong. In baseball there will always be a new opportunity . In life you cannot dwell on the mistakes and the losses you take. It will only hurt you even worse.
Over the years of playing baseball I have learned many things about myself . I have learned that I am a strong leader. I have learned that I am better when I have discipline.I have unique characteristics as well. I have a short memory. What I mean by this is that I don't let the bad days get me down or keep me from performing . I forget about what happen and focus on the next game and see what improvements that I can make or what I can do to make sure that I am helping the team. I also have the good trait of hustle. No matter how bad my team is winning or how bad we are losing, I am going to try my hardest and give 110%. Which means running out every play, always backing up plays ,and even sprinting out to my position.
Most of my life I have been an underdog. Especially in experiences with other sports. Being the underdog because your school isn’t big like the other schools. Being the underdog has made me into a hard working student-athlete. Being the underdog has made me very determined to improve. Determined to win and perform better.
