One important event that has changed my life and could possibly change it forever, is that from 6th to 7th grade I changed schools. I went to a public school my whole life and switching to a private school is what helped me get to where I am today. The opportunities that I now have have been amazing. Freshman year for baseball I was one of 7 freshman who started. Even though we were young we still had the talent to make it to the state playoffs. We weren’t able to win but just getting there and seeing the potential that my team had at the time, helped me realize that changing schools does have an impact on your life. With family losses in my life it’s helped me become a better person and a better teammate.
Baseball has been an important part of my life since I was 6. Throughout all my years of playing I’ve learned that hard work and just having the right mindset really does pay off. I say this because during my freshman year, I was struggling a lot but got myself back together by just trying to improve every little thing that I possibly could. I put myself through all the grit and grind needed to improve my team and just believe in myself because I knew I was better than my performance. I just had the dedication to non-stop work on my game. Then my sophomore year came around and I ended up nearly doubling my stats and earned the right to be captain. I use that theory not just in the field, but in the classroom. If I’m able to keep believing in this I hope to get academic scholarships when I graduate from high school.
