My love of baseball began when I was only 5 years old. Like many youngsters, I played T-Ball. However, after I watched a major league game with my family, I chose to grow up as an athlete. One of my biggest influences is Carlos Ruiz, the Phillies catcher. I wanted to become a catcher. I fell in love with the sport, and I couldn’t stop playing it, the more years and experience that I had, the more enjoyment that I had.
During my high school teener league and legion baseball seasons, I gained some experience behind the plate. On many occasions, I would serve as a backup catcher for my team. I always remained a dedicated athlete as I would try to find ways of improving my game and serve beside my team to the best of my ability. I looked forward to every year of baseball and watching my team improve. The camaraderie that comes from playing baseball is one the reasons I love the game so much. “Baseball is a game of error,” as my coach once said, “You can play the best game of your career one day and have the worst the next day.”
Academically, I focus on achieving high grades that will benefit me in the classroom. I stray from falling far behind, as I feel that staying ahead of the curriculum is necessary to getting above the benchmark grade that I have for each class. I want to play for a college that suites me as a player and as a student. I feel that it is very important for me to choose a college that suits me academically and athletically. Athletically, I feel that if I need to improve in an important part of my game, I will find a way to help improve the way I play. I want to be a big contribution to your team for years to come.
