Jake Gramling '27 Recruiting Profile

I’ve played baseball since I was 3 years old and my goal is to continue playing baseball in college. Numerous coaches have commented about my strong knowledge for the game of baseball and my exceptional baseball IQ. When I was 7, I turned an unassisted triple play at 1st base, and at age 10, I completed a rare 7-9 double play when I anticipated my left fielder (after a great diving catch) would air-mail his throw to 2nd base. I caught the wild throw backing up the play from right field and stepped on 2nd base before the stealing runner could return. I will continue to use the skills that I have learned both on and off the field to fulfill my dream of playing college baseball. Teachers and coaches find me very respectful and mature, and I embrace being a positive teammate who will always play the game the right way even when things don’t go the way I want. Baseball has also allowed me to give back to the sport and the community. My high school team always hosts charitable giving around the December holidays and I helped run a baseball camp for my high school and worked with 2nd - 9th graders on their skills. This summer, I helped coach incoming freshmen with their mechanics and baseball knowledge, and teaching them the right way to play the game.
