Jacob Damian '18 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jacob (Jake) Damian and I'm 6'0' , 195 pound Sophomore at Wayland Baptist University. I'm RHP and a catcher.   My pop time is 2.17 seconds and am working hard for a 2 flat. As a right handed pitcher my average speed is 86 mph. I'm a dedicated athlete and student. I still have room to grow and improve in all areas, I work daily to do so. I'd like to earn my degree in cyber security.

I have always loved the game of baseball from the young age of 2. My goal from the beginning was always to make it to the collegiate level. Throughout middle school and high school I have always had good relationships with my teammates and coaches. I try my hardest to be the best teammate I can be both on and off the field by encouraging them and sometimes trying to help others get better. I consider myself coachable and am willing to do anything possible to make myself the best player I can possibly be. My competitive nature makes me work hard like practicing the things I need to improve on and working out every day so that I can succeed and help the team win ball games. I try and use good character and integrity in all the decisions I make in baseball and in my life. Being honest and trustworthy are extremely important to me. God has given me this gift of playing baseball and I would like to use it to the best of my ability.

What differentiates me from others is heart. Heart is what I play with day in and day out., it's the only way to play.  It's not just a game to me, it's much more. I'm a leader on and off the field and I believe that because of that it makes me a great player. My parents have always told me that I make my own destiny, since a young age this has been told to me. I decide how successful I want to be by working hard, having confidence and never giving up.
