Personal Statement
Hello, my name is James Starnes, and I thank you for your consideration. I have competed in Texas, Florida and Louisiana baseball my entire life, where the competition is strong and I love the challenge. Baseball has been my passion ever since I started my first season on a 5U team when I was 3 years old. My parents begged the coach to let me try out, and I earned a spot on the roster.
If you are still reading this I am asking for a chance to earn a roster spot. Does your team need a committed young man willing to learn, work and earn that roster position? Does the team have an option of a left hitting approach to the line up from the catcher position? I can fill that roster spot! Place my name on your recruiting board! Start to ‘Follow’ me on the NCSA website, and as additional video and my updated playing schedule are added you will be notified.
In review of my profile you will find video and data. I'm a class of 2018, L-hitting, R-field/throw, 5’ 11”, 170-pound catcher. The numbers will show I can and have competed at the highest levels for my age group. What they don’t show is that I am a young class of 2018 graduate. I am working on my game and developing my body every day. I am an athlete that is entering the growth curve rather than an athlete that matured early and has played above my age group because of early maturity and reached most of their potential.
Not only am I working on my game, I am working to better myself in the classroom. I currently have a 3.25 unweighted GPA and 3.54 weighted. I will graduate with a higher GPA. My SAT score from last year was 1080, and I planned to retake the SAT in August, but that was delayed due to Hurricane Harvey. I have been working and will improve my score when the next test date is available.
I am a hardworking student athlete, and I am 100% committed to play baseball at the collegiate level. I would love the opportunity to talk with you about becoming part of your organization. Additionally, if you have prospect showcases or camps please send me an invitation. I am available to speak on my cell 225 907 9017, or email thru the NCSA email system. Thank you for looking at my profile.
Respectfully,
James Starnes
