Ty Baker '22 Recruiting Profile

As a baseball player, I have several years experience playing. I started playing league baseball when I was four years old. At eight, I started playing select/tournament ball to challenge myself competitively. I have played with the same academy since I was 12 - Performance Baseball.  At 13, I chose to move up an age group with my select team to keep the same coach. So at 13 and in the 8th grade, I played against high school aged select teams.  Even with playing up an age group, I was able to play competitively and keep my 3rd base position. Playing  up helped me when going into High School Freshman year, where I started at 3rd base and short stop for our Cushing team. My freshman year, our team advanced three rounds in the playoffs. I also earned an All-district award as an infielder. Sophomore reason was cancelled due to Covid. Junior year, we again advanced three rounds in the playoffs. Junior year, I earned Co-Offensive player of the year for our District. Senior year, we advanced to playoff but sadly lost out in the first round.

I feel that I would be a good candidate for your team due to me being able to work together as a team with other players. I was helpful and supportive to underclassmen in baseball to help mentor them in the game and at practice. I try to always maintain a positive attitude with my team (coaches and players). I have a friendly and easy going personality but I am also very competitive.

I also feel that I have proven myself academically at college with taking college courses while in high school. I have 12 hours at Stephen F. Austin State University with a 3.5 GPA and I have 21 hours from Angelina Junior College with a 3.57 GPA. With my current 33 college hours and 3.5 GPA, this should show that I can maintain academically eligible to compete at college.
