Mason Green - Cy ...
2022 Highlights
2021 Spotlight Prospect Coach:
My name is Mason Green. I am a 6’2” 185lb baseball player primarily LHP, (secondary 1st Base) who came to love the game of baseball when I started playing at age 9. Playing baseball has taught me how to navigate the ups and downs in life. Life has many obstacles and how you handle each situation is extremely important.
At the age of 15 I started experiencing inflammation in my elbow. Doctors prescribed Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation (RICE) for 6 weeks or until the pain stopped. However, the pain kept coming back after each interval quickly and showed no sign of ceasing. At the age of 16, I met with Dr. Bramhall (Texas A&M Team Dr) who immediately recommended and set-up a surgery (11/2/2020) to put in a screw in my elbow to stabilize the growth-plate. After 6 months of rehab and strength & conditioning, I was able to start back on my journey of pitching again.
Since my surgery, I have increased my personal best from tournament to tournament, with latest below.
The surgery taught me to never give up on my goals until all avenues have been exhausted. Now, I am completely recovered with no discomfort in my elbow and am continuing my progression in velocity and consistency with my velo coach.
Baseball is not my main goal yet is an avenue of getting the best education I can possibly obtain. My HS GPA 6.5/7.0; taking combination of Dual Credit, Ap and K/Honor Classes. I have only taken non-certified PSAT test with high score of 1280 and will be taking the SAT in February 2022. I have not decided what I am studying in college but leaning towards an Engineering and History Double Major.
My High School, Cy Woods is extremely competitive academically ranking #152 in the State of Texas, #2 in Cy-Fair District (12 High Schools). The baseball team is also competitive making it the play-offs the past 4 years. The combination of this competitiveness has taught me that hard work is the only way to success. The Cy-Woods moto is 212o. “Water is still liquid at 211o but with one degree of extra heat water boils, turns to gas and is able to power a locomotive”.
If you were to talk with my Coaches and my teammates, they would tell you that I am easy going until I take the mound, then I am able to concentrate and perform to the best of my ability for my Team to win.
