Growing up my parents have stressed the importance of using resources and opportunities available to me compared to other less fortunate kids. Both of my parents were the first on both sides of their families to graduate from college. My father grew up in the projects of Houston, coming from nothing but working his way up. My mother grew up in a 3rd world country where she graduated from high school at 16 years old. Afterwards, she completed her Advanced levels which in former colonies are equivalent to a community college education. Without additional educational opportunities, she migrated to the United States to complete an advanced education. After she graduated I was born. She worked a few different jobs until I was 4 years old. At 4-years old my family moved to the Midwest for my mom to attend professional school. She sometimes told me she wanted to quit but pushed through. This shaped the way I do things as a young adult when at the age of 8 I said to her, "After everything you've been through, quitting will set a bad example for me growing up." Since that day we've held each other to those words in everything we do almost 10 years later. The work ethic and pride mom exemplified has made me want to be just like her in that whatever I decide I want to do, maximum effort is the amount acceptable in chasing a dream. I do my best to show that day in day out in the weight room, classroom, cage, and on the field. My parents helped form the passion I have to never stop improving. There’s always room for improvement because nothing is perfect in the sport of baseball. I want to one day be able to walk on a major league field as a result of all the hard work and passion I've put into baseball over my lifetime.
I will be a good fit for a college program because I do everything with a goal in mind and love every second of the sweating and grinding that leads up to winning a championship. My goals for college are to attend a school with a high level of academics to challenge myself in the classroom, as well as the highest level I can play at on the field.
