Derrick Lechuga '26 Recruiting Profile

My name is Derrick Ryan Lechuga, I’m a Senior at Hamlin High School with a 3.0 GPA. I currently play right field for Hamlin High School and my coach radared my outfield throw at 80mph beginning of 2025. Then CCSC radared my fastball at 81mph.

I am strong, dedicated, take feedback seriously and work hard everyday to become a better player. I am very interested in playing baseball at the next level.

Baseball is life for me, it’s what I love to do. I’m a good student, a good team player and a good athlete.

I started playing baseball when I was 5yrs old in Kerrville, Tx machine pitch. I played catcher and 1st base. We moved next season to Ingram, Tx where I started learning to pitch. We were there from 2015-2019. I could play anywhere they put me.

2019-2021 I played for Hamlin Little League for Kendon Gruben. I was the new kid showing up to an already established team. They had me at right field.

2020-Current I played for Hamlin High School Tx, still at right field, but working to start pitching also.

2018- Current I have also played football, Linebacker for defense and Left Guard for offense. 2020-Current for Hamlin Tx, Kerrville the previous years.

2015-2021 I played basketball. I started at the Salvation Army Kroc Center in Kerrville Texas and played until my Freshman year at Hamlin High School. That’s when I knew Baseball was the sport I wanted to pursue.

2019-Current I participate in track. I run the 100m dash, 200m dash, and throw discuss for JV.
