I started playing baseball when I was 10, while my dad was deployed to Afghanistan. When I first started out, I feel I was not judged fairly by my teammates to be at their level. After working hard in the off season, I have became one of the top-level starters on my team. Over the years of playing not only in select league teams, but also playing on travel teams has given me the ability to be the best player I can be. As a testament, two of the teams I played on made it to the state tournament level. The experience of playing travel/select league baseball over the years has helped me grow not only as a person, but also showed me how focus and dedication takes to play at the college level. I would have to say not making the varsity team last year was probably the best thing that could have happened to me. Maintaining that intensity for the next two years is what’s going to drive and make me the best player I can be. I took that experience and will work hard in the off season though and will make it next year. My goal this season is to move into the starting 1B position as a junior and one of the few LHP that will be in the rotation.
