Matthew Mackey '20 Recruiting Profile

Hello. My name is Matthew Mackey. I am in the Class of 2020. I am a left handed pitcher, outfielder, and first baseman at Lamar High School in Houston, Texas. I also play for the Houston Warriors travel club. I am very serious about my education, and I perform well in the classroom. My best subject is math. I am ranked in the top 1% of my high school class and regularly score in the top 1% on standardized tests (such as the PSAT). I have also participated in summer academic programs such as the Vanderbilt Summer Academy, and I participated in Duke TIP sessions at Rice. I aim to earn both an Engineering and Business degree. Currently, I am particularly interested in Civil and Mechanical Engineering. I am 6'0" tall and weigh 165. I am known as a great contact hitter with solid power. I also consistently have good pitching performances where I attack the zone and go after the hitter. My most effective strikeout pitch is the curveball.
