I love competing in baseball at the absolute highest level that I can find. The higher the competition, the more determined I am to show my talent against the best. I realized pretty young that I had baseball talent, but I haven't stopped there. I have learned to train hard, no matter the circumstances, and am dedicated to continuing that. I first learned to pitch when I was 10 simply because I wanted to. I didn't end up on the mound just because my coaches "needed another arm"; it came from my own internal drive. I taught myself by throwing against the side of the house where my dad taped a strike zone. After I figured it out, I worked the coach until he finally let me pitch. I excelled then, and have continued to excel ever since as I have learned my craft.
I continually improve every season, growing in physical strength as well as understanding of how to dominate every time I get the chance to pitch. This is also true of my infield play; I am adept at third base, short stop, and first base. I am confident that my strength and skill will continue to increase throughout high school and into college.
I uniquely understand and value diversity, since my story is not the same as most people's. I was adopted as an infant from Kazakhstan, after spending my first 17 months in an orphanage. Because of this, it gives me a particular drive to make the most of what I have; I do not take any of my opportunities for granted. I am driven, work very hard, and am able to give my teammates a perspective on valuing their opportunities as well.
My determination has paid off academically, as well. Although I was diagnosed with dyslexia in elementary, I did not let that get me down. With the help of my parents and experts, I have trained my brain a ton and no longer have the reading struggles I had when I was younger. I know I must work harder academically than some others but it's worth it to get to the best place I want in life. I pride myself on being able to accept instruction and quickly make it happen. I’m intense but relatively quiet – letting my performance on the field do the talking.
