My name is Sebastian Ibarra, I was born into a baseball family, and I love this sport. I've been playing since I was three years old and haven't looked back ever since. I was brought up to work together with family, friends, and teammates, even when it's hard. I love this sport, I live this sport, and even through the ups and downs throughout the seasons of playing: CYO, Select, Inter Leagues and high school ball, every moment has been a learning experience. I have learned from coaches, from teammates and from myself that not every game is going to be perfect, but those moments help me to be better and be a leader to others. There was a moment in my life at 9 years old when I thought I would never pick up a baseball again, I was diagnosed with Epilepsy. After treatment with medication and extensive studies and many prayers I accepted that this is something that I was living with and it would not keep me from playing the sport that I've loved since I was 3 years old. I've been seizure free for 10 years now and my family and baseball keep me going to work hard in my academics and in everything that I do.I remember telling my mom while admitted in the hospital for the second time, "Mom, I have goals I need you to help me with. I want to play in high school, college and maybe the MLB." her response to me was, "I will be there for you every step of the way and listen to you, and be your biggest cheerleader, but you have to do all the work and want it!" I always dreamed of playing in college and in the MLB. I know that's a big dream, and when it comes to numbers, it's even harder, but I want to be that. 05% that makes it that far, no matter how hard it gets, and all the ups and downs I face, I will still play because this sport is my home, the friends I make, and the teammates I get to spend time with.
