Personal Statement
My teammates and coaches tell me I am a good teammate and a good "dugout guy". They also say the team is different, and better, when I am on the mound. I am very positive and supportive of our team. I encourage others to do the same, and to play hard on every play. I do not give up and I won't let my team give up. You never know what will happen in baseball. I work hard every day with that in mind.
I like to be involved in my community, my school, and my church. With my parents' help, last year I started Operation Christmas Child, to provide Christmas toys, and winter coats, to needy children in our area. We coordinate with Pastor Clayton and his church congregation at God's House Church on the east side of San Antonio to have a Christmas party and deliver the toys and coats just before Christmas each year. I am proud to say I got our entire high school involved in the effort.
I also recruit athletes, both male and female, from all sports, at our school for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. It is a small group today, but we look forward to growing into a major organization at our school. I work to be a leader for this group.
I like to work with young kids, so I give baseball lessons (for community service hours, not for pay) to a few kids, ages 7-9, after school (including our baseball coach's son, Austin).
