I was extremely fortunate to join a program with nine very talented upperclassmen. It allowed me to watch how every position on the field should be played, and I took the opportunity to leverage their experience and learn the fundamentals for every position. While our winning the district championship my first year was a great experience, it was losing in the state quarterfinals that showed me just how much harder I had to work to help both my team and me reach the next level. My dedication and willingness to do whatever it takes to help the team has enabled our coach to move me this year, when needed due to injuries, from my starting position in center field to third base, catcher, and as a closing pitcher.
My ideal program is one where I can both achieve my academic goal of a degree in athletic training as well as use my athletic skills to contribute to the school's baseball program. And I would bring more to your school than just my statistics; the work ethic, character, and leadership I've brought to every practice and every game this year as our team captain would also come with me to your university. I know I have both the physical and mental toughness to play at the next level, and I'm ready to once again do whatever it takes to be a leader on your team.
